Core materials and structures

The material selection of food-grade FDA conveyor belts strictly adheres to the principles of "non-toxic, odorless, non-migratory, and easy to clean", and strictly avoids the use of harmful components such as plasticizers, heavy metals, and recycled materials. The mainstream materials are divided into four major categories, suitable for different food processing scenarios. The structure mostly adopts a composite design of "base material + food-grade coating" to ensure the stability and hygiene of conveying

PU (polyurethane) material

It is the most widely used type, divided into polyester type (oil-resistant, hydrolysic-resistant, suitable for meat products, dairy products, and sauce transportation) and polyether type (low-temperature resistant, anti-mold, suitable for cold chain and water-containing food transportation). It is non-toxic, odorless, wear-resistant, stretchable, with a smooth surface and no pores, easy to clean. The temperature resistance range is from -40℃ to +80℃, and some high-temperature models can reach 110℃. The frame is mostly made of polyester (PET) or nylon (PA) canvas, which has high tensile strength and is not easy to deform

Silicone material

It has outstanding high-temperature resistance, with an instantaneous temperature resistance of -100℃ to 250℃. It is suitable for high-temperature processing scenarios such as baking and frying. The surface is not sticky and is compatible with the transportation of sticky materials such as dough and chocolate sauce. It is non-toxic and odorless, and meets FDA and German BfR standards.

PE (polyethylene) material

It has strong chemical stability, is non-toxic and odorless, and resistant to acid and alkali corrosion. It is suitable for scenarios such as fruit and vegetable cleaning and low-temperature refrigeration. It does not release toxic gases when burned at high temperatures and is compatible with auxiliary conveying links that do not come into direct contact with food. The temperature resistance range is from -40℃ to +70℃.

Teflon (PTFE) material

It can withstand high temperatures up to 260℃, is resistant to acids and alkalis, moisture, and does not stick to materials. Made of glass fiber as the base material, it is suitable for baking and ultra-high-temperature processing scenarios, effectively preventing material adhesion and reducing the frequency of cleaning.

Structurally, it mostly adopts a two-layer fabric and two-glue or multi-layer fabric and multi-glue design, with a coating thickness of ≥0.5mm. The edges are integrally wrapped with the same material to prevent cracking, water ingress and joint contamination. The joints are joined with food-grade hot vulcanized rubber, which is odorless and resist-free, avoiding the risk of foreign object detachment that may occur in traditional steel buckle connections.

It has passed the core certification of the FDA. Some products can simultaneously pass certifications such as ROHS, NSF, and HACCP. The migration amount of heavy metals, total migration amount, and microbial limits all meet food contact standards. It has no odor, does not shed dust, and will not release harmful substances to contaminate food, eliminating the risk of food safety compliance.

The surface is smooth without pores or dead corners, making it less prone to bacterial growth. It is suitable for cleaning processes such as CIP cleaning and high-temperature rinsing in food workshops. It supports disinfection with food-grade cleaning agents and leaves no residue after cleaning, meeting the hygiene management requirements of the food industry.

Strong adaptability

It can meet the requirements of different food processing conditions, with a temperature resistance range covering -40℃ to 260℃, and is suitable for scenarios such as low-temperature cold chain, normal-temperature sorting, and high-temperature baking. It can withstand the erosion of weak acids, alkalis and food oils, has high tensile strength and low elongation, and is not prone to deformation or deviation during long-term operation. The recommended conveying speed is ≤2.5m/s, and it is suitable for various food production lines.

Durable economy

High-quality materials combined with precise processing techniques, it features strong wear resistance and tear resistance. Its service life is 1.5 to 2 times that of ordinary industrial conveyor belts, which can reduce the frequency of replacement and lower downtime losses. Although the initial investment is higher than that of ordinary conveyor belts, it can avoid hidden costs such as fines and product recalls caused by non-compliance, and is more cost-effective for long-term use.

- Connection methods: Food-grade hot melt seamless connection, hot vulcanization connection (steel buckle connection is prohibited to avoid contamination by foreign objects)

Priority verification and certification

Confirm that the product has FDA certification and relevant test reports. For export products, additional certifications such as CE and EU 10/2011 need to be confirmed to avoid purchasing non-compliant products

Focus on customization capabilities

For non-standard production lines, products that can be customized in terms of width, length, thickness, and surface texture (such as anti-slip and anti-stick) as needed should be selected. Skirts, guide strips, perforations and other structures can be added as required to adapt to special equipment.

Match the working condition requirements

Based on the conveyed material (whether it contains oil, stickiness, or sharp edges and corners), working temperature, and conveying speed, select the corresponding material (for example, choose silicone/Teflon for high temperature and polyester type PU for oil)..

Usage and Maintenance

When installing, ensure that the rollers are aligned to prevent the conveyor belt from deviating and reduce edge wear. Do not start under load to avoid tensile deformation.

For daily cleaning, food-grade cleaners should be used to avoid strong acid or alkali cleaners from damaging the surface of the material. After cleaning, ensure there is no standing water to prevent bacterial growth.

Avoid contact with acids, alkalis, oil stains and organic solvents, and keep away from heat-generating devices (at least 1 meter away). When storing, roll them up and avoid folding. Keep the warehouse temperature between -18℃ and 40℃. Turn them over once every season.

Regularly inspect the wear and cracking of the conveyor belt, and promptly repair or replace it to prevent food contamination after damage. During operation, avoid excessive material accumulation and do not exceed the rated load.

The lubrication system must use food-grade grease certified by NSF H1 to prevent the lubricant from dripping and contaminating food.
